Children in on their own will come under the teacher’s responsibility whilst in the swimming pool.

Once your child has left their lesson please ensure they are safe in the changing room as we are unable to take responsibility for them.  It is your responsibility to supervise your child whilst changing.

Please ensure that all siblings are supervised at the pool and remain under your supervision whilst watching swimming lessons.

No food or drink is to be consumed in the changing rooms or poolside.  Water may be brought poolside in a sports water bottle.

Assisting the child in the water

For young children and beginners the teacher will conduct the lesson from in the water.  It will be necessary to assist children whilst they are learning to swim.  This will include the children being supported in the water to gain confidence and master the strokes. If you would like to discuss this with us do not hesitate to contact the office.  All teachers will carry a valid DBS check.

Changing Room Policy

In accordance with Swim Englands Changing Room Policy, for our pools with specific male and female changing rooms, parents should not be in the changing rooms whist swimmers are changing, unless the swimmer is of an age where help is required from the parents of the swimmer or requires additional specific assistance. This is generally classed as 7 years of age. In such circumstances the parent must be the same gender as the child.

We appreciate this is not always feasible and often there are mums that bring their sons and dads that bring their daughters. Often children younger than 7 are able to change themselves but for those that need assistance our policy is that the sex of the changing room that should be used, when a child needs help in getting changed, is of the same sex as the parent/ adult that is helping, so a mum changing her son should be in the female changing room, and a dad changing his daughter should be in the male changing room.

Mobile phones must not be used in changing rooms

Video and photography

When taking photographs or video footage, we would ask that everyone remains sensitive to the feelings of others and always stops filming should they be asked to do so. It is our policy to ask everyone participating in the class if they are happy with photographs or video footage being taken during their lesson.  If pictures or video footage contain anyone else other than your own child it is not appropriate to post them on public accessible websites,  they should only be for private use.

It is your responsibility to inform the teacher at the time, if you are not happy with others filming during the lesson and they will take action to stop the photos/ filming.

All property left in changing rooms or on poolside and all property (including prams) left in entrance halls or outside, is left at your own risk. Simply Swim Sussex Ltd cannot accept any responsibility for the loss or damage of any personal possessions. Please remove all jewellery (except wedding rings) before entering the water.

Please note the Teacher will check the changing area prior to leaving the pool and will collect any lost property to be collected at your next swimming session.

Simply Swim Sussex Ltd will try to provide the same teacher to maintain continuity but this may change due to illness and circumstances beyond our control.
